UCLA Registrar's Office

A final academic transcript that includes the graduation date is available about six weeks after the end of the final term.

Degree Award Confirmation

As a substitute for a final transcript, a degree award letter can be issued. There is no fee for this letter.

A letter may not be released if the student has outstanding financial obligations to the University. The student should check their record for outstanding holds through MyUCLA.

Early Degree Verification

Students who need proof that in-progress courses will complete degree requirements can request a degree pending letter by submitting a special letter request.

Students who need proof that degree requirements have been completed earlier than six weeks after the term ends can request a degree completion letter. Submit the request only after final grades are posted on MyUCLA.

Before Registrar’s Office degree auditors can verify that the degree will be completed in the current term, they must have all relevant documentation. This can include final grades, departmental approval of courses applied toward major requirements, and transcripts of advanced-standing work at other institutions with associated evaluation of credit toward UCLA degree requirements. Under normal circumstances, the earliest this information is available is three weeks after the last day of the term.

There is no fee for either of these letters. A special degree-processing fee may apply if special action must be taken to verify grades, expedite transfer credit evaluation, or obtain other documentation necessary to clear degree requirements. If assessed, the fee is charged to the BruinBill account.

Early Degree Posting

Students who need their degree to be awarded earlier than six weeks after the final term ends can request early degree posting by using the online early degree posting process. A special degree processing fee is charged to the BruinBill account.

Retroactive Degree Request

Students may request a retroactive degree if all requirements were completed in a previous term but the student was prevented from receiving their degree in that term. Students should submit a retroactive degree request (PDF).

For a retroactive degree request to be fulfilled, students must have met all degree requirements no later than the degree-award date. A special degree processing fee applies upon fulfillment; the fee is charged to the BruinBill account.

Transfer Credit Confirmation

The official transcript contains the total units of transfer credit accepted by UCLA. Undergraduate students who need proof that specific courses were applied by UCLA toward their degree can request a transfer credit letter. If multiple letters are needed, a separate request must be submitted for each institution or examination agency (such as advanced placement or international baccalaureate). There is no fee for this letter.

Students admitted before 2012 should submit a special letter request.

Other Special Letters

A student who needs a letter for anything not covered herein should submit a special letter request. This form should NOT be used for any documents or services that are already available through MyUCLA or for which a specific form already exists.

When describing the special request, the student should be as specific as possible. If the request can be satisfied, a special handling fee is charged to the BruinBill account.
