Course Materials Fees

Fees may be charged for materials used in laboratory, studio, and other courses. A per-class course materials fee (sometimes known as a lab fee) is assessed based on class enrollment as of Friday of the fourth week of the term. Students are assessed these fees regardless of major. Cancel Registration

Students who have paid fees but do not plan to enroll in classes for a term must cancel their registration to receive fee refunds. Before the first day of instruction, students who have paid fees but do not plan to attend classes for a term may cancel their registration. Undergraduate Program Change Petition

Use this form to petition for a change of major, minor, or College or school. Students in good academic standing who wish to change their major may petition to do so, provided they can complete the new major within the 216-unit limit. Petitions must be submitted to and approved by the department or committee in charge of the new major. Changes to or from multiple majors require College/school and department approval. Planned Academic Leave (PAL)

Students who plan to attend a non-UC study-abroad program must also take a planned academic leave of absence (PAL). Undergraduates returning from approved non-UC study abroad do not need to apply for readmission. Undergraduate students who plan to participate in a study abroad program sponsored by an institution other than UC are required to take a planned academic leave of absence (PAL) from UCLA. Registration and Payment

Registration is a two-step process: payment of fees and enrollment in classes. Students can enroll in classes, but without fee payment by the published deadline, classes are dropped.

Diplomas

Students should specify name details and delivery method before the diploma is processed. Diplomas are available about three months after degree award.
