If attendance is an academic requirement established by the instructor, students may be dropped from a course because of excessive absences.
No student may enter upon any organized instructional activity until registered and enrolled with the approval of the appropriate study list authority. No student may begin or continue a course if the officer of instruction in charge considers the student unqualified by lack of preparation. Late registration may not be used to justify inadequate performance in a course (Regulations of the Academic Senate University of California, SR 542).
Attendance at UCLA classes is limited to duly enrolled regular-session or concurrent UCLA Extension students. Guests may attend lectures only with instructor approval. Students may be dropped from a course for academic reasons such as lacking the approved requisites and requirements. If attendance is an academic requirement established by the instructor, students may be dropped from a class because of excessive absences.
Class rosters, which identify enrolled or wait-listed students and Extension students, are available online to each instructor through MyUCLA.
UCLA Extension Students
Concurrent enrollment through UCLA Extension provides an opportunity for the public to take UCLA regular-session daytime courses with instructor consent and on a space-available basis. Individuals must petition to enroll in these courses through UCLA Extension.
Visiting Students
Visiting students from other universities who wish to participate in research or other scholarly opportunities at UCLA must have a faculty mentor or supervisor and be recorded as being present on campus.
For policies regarding visiting students, see the visiting undergraduate students or visiting graduate student researchers sites.
