UCLA Registrar's Office

Active teaching faculty and authorized staff can use the Curriculum Management System to create, revise, and discontinue courses, undergraduate major curriculum, minors, and graduate majors.

Curriculum and course approval requests are processed through the Curriculum Management System (CMS), a secure online application that collects curriculum and course data, routes it through an established approval process, and publishes to the UCLA General Catalog.

Variable topics, Fiat Lux, and Honors seminar term offerings still must be processed in the Course Inventory Management System (CIMS) only.

Within CMS, users can create new majors and minors, revise program requirements for undergraduate majors and minors, and discontinue majors and minors. Users can also request approval for new courses, revised courses, and course discontinuations. Course approvals for general education, diversity, foreign language, quantitative reasoning, Writing II, and distance education are also processed through CMS.

Request progress can be tracked through CMS, which shows each stage of the approval workflow.

CMS has an inventory of all current majors, minors, and courses. Users can access prior course approvals, the last time a course was offered since it was updated in OASIS, and enrollment at last offering by accessing the Course Inventory Management System (CIMS). CIMS also has an archive of all course approvals processed since 2004, including a syllabus if one were attached.
